Freeman Cemetery

The first burials in Freeman were around 1886 in the Freeman Cemetery on Sixth Street (now the Freeman Memorial).  In 1909 a new Cemetery was built located 1 mile west of town on 279th Street.

Huber Cemetery #2 is located southwest of Freeman on 281st Street.

Huber Cemetery #3 was built in 1930 by John Huber off of 435th Ave.

Hutterthal Mennonite Cemetery

The Hutterthal Mennonite Cemetery is located across from the Hutterthal Church on 237th Ave.

Salem Mennonite Cemetery

In 1913 the Salem Mennonite Church bought an acre of land from Henry P. Graber to build a cemetery, (1/4 mile east of the church). Church members who died from 1908 to 1912 were buried in the Salem-Zion Cemetery.

Salem Zion Cemetery

The Salem Zion Cemetery is located 1/4 mile east of the Salem Zion Church. The first burial was Johann Graber in 1875. There is a marker in the cemetery for the Children’s Blizzard of 1888.

Schartner Cemetery

Schartner Cemetery (Mennonite Schartner Cemetery) is located 6 miles north and 2 miles east of Freeman on 441st Ave.  

In 1875 Karl Schartner designated a plot of ground for cemetery use.  The first burial was Mrs. Henry Koehn.

Tschetter Cemetery (Missionary Church Cemetery) is located 2 miles north of Freeman on Highway 81.

Tieszen Cemertey is located 4 miles northeast of Freeman on 443rd Ave.
